USB flash drives are much better than CDs or DVDs, in terms of data storage. Besides the fact that some of them have a greater capacity, you can also add and remove data on them any number of times, whenever you want. Unfortunately, DVDs are still the primary devices when it comes to installing Windows on a computer, but this can change, thanks to WinUSB Maker. In a few minutes, it will create a bootable USB device, from which you can install the operating system.

The application does not require installing. You can download an archive, which is roughly 2.80 Mb large, extract WinUSB Maker's .exe file and run it. It works with Windows XP and all higher versions and thanks to its low CPU and memory usage, you can use it even on older computers.

WinUSB Maker lets you transfer the Windows setup files, GRUB loader environment or MS DOS to removable hard drives or USB flash drives and make them bootable as well. These actions are performed in separate sections of the interface, which are accessible via navigation tabs, on the left side of the interface. If you want to copy the Windows setup files, you can either select a directory or use an ISO image. To ensure compatibility, you may tick an option to use the old FAT32 file system. To start the process, you just need to click a button, in the lower right corner of the interface.

The same option for using the FAT32 system can be found when transferring the GRUB loader. Apart from this option, there are no other settings to make before you copy the loader or MS DOS. Your USB device must be formatted if you want to load one of these items on it. Fortunately, WinUSB Maker comes with a backup and restore feature. Any type of data, on your removable device, will be saved as a file on your hard drive and you can restore it by loading the file with the same application.

Pros

WinUSB Maker is lightweight and it does not require installing. There are very few options on its compact interface, which makes it very easy to understand.

Cons

The application does not work very fast and there is no Cancel button to stop a process. WinUSB Maker gives you the possibility of installing Windows from a removable hard drive or USB flash drive. Thanks to the interface's simplicity, you can set up a bootable flash drive in a few minutes.
